Following some discussion on the Fate Core Google+ Group in this thread I said I would write in a bit more detail about how I would handle space conflicts in Fate Core from fighter attacks to capital ship on capital ship action to large fleet battles. So, here goes nothing!
Greetings all. I’m running a game of “Mass Effect” in the Fate Core system for the university’s Easter break. I was going to just post about it on the Google+ community, but then I remembered that + is a somewhat transient medium and that all posts are eventually lost, like tears in rain.
So here’s how the game has been going so far…
I’d never run the Dresden Files before but I have a hankering to run the game to the extent that I’m planning to stop my long-running Geist game in favour of it. Being overly confident in my own ability to wing things I decided to learn the basics of the Fate system behind the game in a week and then run it as a one-off sampler game after the AGS Intro Meeting.
This is how it went.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I last found the time to write about my summer games. I’m pleased to say that both games have been going well. Here are my thoughts on the last two sessions of each game.
We managed to get a little bit more done in Monday’s game this week, though it still isn’t quite gelling for me yet. Baby Alexander is cute but very distracting and of course his mum and dad have to spend quite a bit of time keeping him happy, all of which makes it hard to stay focused.
I completely understand this and I knew what I was getting into when I agreed to run the game; I’m glad to give his parents a chance to play a game and regularly see some of their friends.
On to the Wednesday Dragon Blooded game!
Last Monday’s Part-Time Gods game was very distracted and ‘bitty’. We don’t seem to have quite settled into our stride yet and the session was composed of two in character scenes and a lot of out of character distractions.
